Embouchure Setup
Hold just the head joint and cover the open end with your palm.
Take a slow, deep breath. Fill your lungs from the bottom up.
Blow gently across the embouchure hole. Aim for a clear, steady tone.
If the sound is airy, try adjusting the angle of your air stream slightly.
Hold each tone for as long as you comfortably can.
Rest between attempts. There is no rush.
Try 5 good tones. Notice which ones feel and sound the best.
Produce 5 clear, steady tones on the head joint with relaxed breathing.
"Resetting with the head joint is something flutists at every level do. It helps you reconnect with the basics of tone and air."
