Long Tones
Stand with good posture. Feet shoulder-width apart, shoulders relaxed.
Take a deep breath from your belly, not your chest.
Play a comfortable middle-register note like B or A.
Hold the note as long as you can with a steady, even tone.
Listen carefully — is the sound smooth from beginning to end?
Rest, then repeat with a different note.
Try to hold each note for at least 8 counts at a slow tempo.
Hold each long tone for 8 or more counts with a steady, even sound.
