Position your left hand correctly for comfort and control.
Your left thumb goes on the thumb key on the back of the flute, roughly below the first and second keys. Keep it slightly curved.
Your left index, middle, and ring fingers rest on the first three keys. Use the fleshy pads of your fingertips, not the tips.
Keep your fingers gently curved, like you are holding a small ball. Flat fingers make it harder to move quickly.
Your left wrist should be straight or slightly angled — not bent sharply. A relaxed wrist prevents strain.
Your left pinky rests lightly on the G-sharp key. It should stay close to the key even when not pressing it.
